Quality Assurance

The Quality Assurance System for Degree Programmes (First Cycle Degrees, Second Cycle Degrees, and Single Cycle Degrees) is designed to ensure the continuous improvement of the educational offer and student services.

Degree Programmes are key actors in the University’s Quality Assurance System and contribute directly to the definition, implementation, and evaluation of study programmes.

Quality Assurance of the Degree Programmes concerns:

  • the design of learning objectives and study programmes, developed in collaboration with stakeholders through the Steering Committee;
  • the delivery of teaching activities, and the management of services and resources supporting students;
  • the monitoring of educational outcomes and self-assessment processes.

These activities are carried out by the Review Committee, which analyses available data and indicators to assess programme performance, identify strengths and critical issues, and propose improvement actions. These processes result in the Cyclic Review Report and in the analysis and commentary of the Annual Monitoring Report.

The outcomes are shared with the Degree Programme governing bodies and translated into corrective and development actions, in line with University guidelines and strategic planning, contributing to the continuous improvement and overall quality of the educational offer.

Joint Student-Faculty Committee

The School of Economics and Management, which coordinates teaching activities in several study programs including the MSc in Economics and Development, has established a Joint Student-Faculty Committee, with Italian acronym CPDS.

The CPDS consists of one instructor and one student representative for each study program of the School and it plays an important role in the Quality Assurance System, as every year in autumn it produces a report on each program. The report examines the programs' educational offerings and identifies areas for improvement regarding, for instance, student orientation, teaching quality, career guidance. The governing bodies of each program are required to address the CPDS's recommendations with specific actions meant to reduce or eliminate the weaknesses which have been identified .
