Mandatory courses for the curriculum in Economics, 1st semester, 1st year

Game Theory and Microeconomics, 9 ECTS | Instructor: Domenico Menicucci

The goal of this course is to introduce some basic ideas of Microeconomic Theory, in particular the fundamental principles of choice under uncertainty, game theory for games with simultaneous moves and for dynamic games, and general equilibrium.

Prerequisites: You will need a basic knowledge of probability theory (the preliminary notes available on the Statistical Inference course website are sufficient for this) and basic calculus for functions of one and several variables.

Mathematics for Economics, 9 ECTS | Instructor: Antonio Villanacci

This course introduces essential mathematical concepts required to understand models in economics, including Linear algebra, Topology in metric spaces, Differential calculus in Euclidean spaces, Nonlinear programming.

Statistical Inference, 6 ECTS | Instructor: Alberto Cassese

This course introduces the cornerstones of inferential statistics, including the concept of statistical models, tools for point estimation and interval estimation, statistical hypothesis testing.

The material available in the website includes

• Notes on mandatory pre-knowledge, along with all course-related content.

• Tutorial materials, including links to video recordings.

• Statistical tables necessary for solving exercises.

• A few past written tests.

⚠ Important: Understanding the theory explained in the notes is crucial to mastering the course topics and to prepare to take the exam. Focusing only on past written tests is not sufficient to be well prepared.
