Internship Approval and ECTS

Any student interested in pursuing an internship should first contact professor Filippo Randelli, who is in charge of internships for students of the MSc in Economics and Development. He will determine whether the internship the student is considering is consistent with the MSc's topics.

• Earning ECTS In order to earn ECTS from the intership, the student must include it in the study plan as an optional course using the appropriate course code. This can be done either before the internship or after the internship.
• Zero-ECTS Option Alternatively, the student may choose to undertake an internship just to earn experience, without earning ECTS.

 

Finding an Internship

Finding an internship is similar to applying for a job. Here are resources to help students find open position:

• Unifi Database: Search the database for firms and organizations that already have an active internship agreement with Unifi;
• Past Employers: View a list of firms and organizations where past Economics and Development students have worked as interns.
• School of Economics and Management: A website of the School advertises some positions. 
• European Opportunities: Explore positions at European Union Institutions, or at the EuroDesk Opportunity Finder, or visit Stage4eu, a website for students interested in an internship in Europe.
• IRPET: IRPET, the Regional Institute for Economic Planning of Tuscany, offers internship positions here.  IRPET carries out research in the economic, social, and territorial fields, aimed at the planning, analysis, and evaluation of public policies. Its activities are primarily meant to support Tuscany's Government Bodies, but in fact IRPET also carrier out research in collaboration with—and on behalf of—public and private operators, institutions, agencies, other research institutes, and universities.

 

Activating Your Internship

After identifying a suitable organization with an open position, the student can apply for the position. If the student is accepted as an intern, then the student needs to follow the steps described in this page, beginning with Enabling the Internship.

What if the organization does not have an internship agreement with Unifi? In this case a formal agreement must be established before the internship begins. The organization must access the internship database to initiate the agreement procedure; credentials are necessary, which can be obtained from this page by clicking on iscrizione on line (online registration). For assistance with this process, the organization can contact stages@adm.unifi.it.
