Study Plan

What is a study plan? A student's study plan is the list of the courses for which the student must pass the exams in order to graduate. The MSc in Economics and Development allows some freedom in the choice of courses, hence each student needs to submit a study plan to specify their choice of courses, which also simplifies the exam registration process.

Study plan and curricula The documents below specify, for each curriculum, the mandatory courses, that is the courses which must be included in each study plan, and the courses for which a choice by the student is required. These documents contain links to the instructors' webpages, from which the syllabus of each course (called "insegnamento" in Italian) held by the instructor can be reached. The syllabi should provide useful information to choose non-mandatory courses.

When the study plan can be submitted In a.y. 2026-27 there will be two sessions to submit the study plan:

  • an Autumn session, Oct. 26 to Nov. 21, 2026;
  • a Spring session, Mar. 26 to Apr. 21, 2027,

First-year students should ideally submit their study plans during the autumn session, in order to streamline the procedure of registering to take exams in the winter exam session. A first-year student missing the autumn session may submit a study plan in the spring session (but also a study plan submitted in the autumn session can be modified in the spring session). In the same two sessions, autumn and spring, each second-year (and beyond) student can submit a new study plan in order to modify their previous study plan.

Guidelines This document provides guidelines about submitting the study plan (for the Spring session of a.y. 2025-26); in particular, footnote 3 in the document is about how to insert an internship in the study plan.

The submitted study plan will be examined and approved, possibly after some modifications, by the professors of the MSc in charge of study plans: see footnote 2 of the document of guidelines. The approval only pertains to the choice of optional courses, which need to be consistent with the topics of the MSc in Economics and Development. Each of the three study plan documents linked above provides a list of optional courses that satisfy this condition. If a submitted study plan is rejected, then the student will be invited to submit a new study plan by Dec. 5, 2026 (Autumn session), or by May 5, 2027 (Spring session).

Unless you need to submit your study plan in paper form (about this, please see the guidelines above), please click here to enter GCS with your credentials. GCS is the webpage where you can manage your carreer as a student, and in which you can submit your study plan.
