Information for Non-EU Students: Enrollment, Residence Permit, ...

Enrollment

Deadlines

  • Standard Enrollment: July 1 to November 6, 2026
  • Late Enrollments: November 7 to December 18, 2026. In this case an additional administrative fee of EUR 100 will be charged: See the Annual Study Prospectus for details.

How to Enroll

In order to enroll in the MSc in Economics and Development, first of all you need to have

  • received your "nulla-osta" (official clearance) to enroll;
  • obtained a valid Type "D" study visa for university enrollment;
  • arrived in Italy.

Residence Permit (Permesso di Soggiorno) Application

By Italian law, non-EU nationals residing abroad must apply for a residence permit for study purposes within 8 working days of arriving in Italy. The residence permit application is submitted by sending a postal kit according to the following procedure.

First Step: Collect the postal kit: 

  • if you arrive BEFORE September 1, 2026, then collect a kit directly from a Postal Office - Sportello Amico. For students residing in the Florence area, please see the list of authorized Sportello Amico offices in Florence;
  • if you arrive NOT BEFORE September 1, 2026, then kits will be available also at the International Student Information Desk, located in Viale Morgagni, 44 (ground floor). Visits are by appointment only -- book your slot on uFirst starting from August 15. 

Second Step: Submit the postal kit at a Postal Office - Sportello Amico; please see the list of authorized Sportello Amico offices in Florence;

Third Step: After the submission you will receive from the Postal Office the Residence Permit Postal Receipts (3 pages). Make sure to keep them safe as they serve as your temporary proof of legal stay in Italy!
